The Guide to Checking Work Hours: Using ADP

Check Work Hours Using ADP

Want to check employee work hours?

There are many reasons to do so. You can do it to compare employees and see who deserves compensations.

On the ADP Aline system you can do that.

You can do it as a way to resolve paycheck disputes. Or, you can do it to check regulatory compliance. Especially with ACA.

We’ll discuss the third below. Read the guide and apply it to your business!

Regulatory Information

According to ACA regulations, temporary employees can be part or fulltime. However, they cannot exceed 1300+ hours of work in a 12 month period (consecutively).

Temporaries who have exceeded those hours (after their hire date) require a 26-week break-in service.

However, after either the period or work hours are reached, an employee needs the 26 week break-in service, else they’re switched to a normal position.

Report Runs

Running an ACA report require a long-in to eTime. From there, records kept include employee attendance and time, approvers, and welcome managers. From there, check “my quickness”, where you can choose (all home and transferred-in) or (all home).

If your employees work in many positions and departments, you’ll find there are 2 columns. One shows the total hours worked (pay code), and another shows the total uncompensated hours.

For now, we recommend focusing on the pay code total, since other options don’t suit most hiring structures well.

Report Checks

This report can be ran multiple times a day. And through it, you can check many factors.

They include previous payment periods, date ranges, and specific dates. And that way, it lets you hone in on past payment schedules for accurate information.

You can also check current payment period. You should be doing this regularly, to see who has been paid and who is still to be paid.

Also, you can run checks by individuals. You can click on employees, where you can run your reports using click timecards. Alternatively, you can bring up the timecards using the (Employee List). Simply double click on it, and it’ll give you the information you need!

Additional information you can see is the number of hours worked per specific day. You can see that on an employee record by scrolling to the bottom.

Time Detailed Report

Detailed time reports can also be ran and printed.

You can outline the time details necessary. You can then print that for viewing during your own time. And you can do so in multiple file formats (like PDF).

This is useful, since you can now run reports on different employees at different times. You can check payment of an employee many years back. Then, you can compare that to payments today. Not to mention, you can also cross-compare employee payments in similar jobs and departments.

Just Remember

Institutions were demanded to start tracking hours of each employee, ensuring they didn’t exceed the 1300 hour limit in a 1 month period.

If employees have over 1000 hours, ensure you contact an employment director to discuss your options. And ensure you ask about the procedures necessary to maintain compliance with ACA!
